Course Description

Website design requires a great deal more than quickly putting text together on a web server.  Anyone can create a website, but to create an effective website requires some advanced planning and knowledge.  This course uses Microsoft’s award winning website creation and maintenance program, FrontPage 2000, to teach the students techniques for creating professional websites.  The course focuses on ideas such as graphic design, common Internet terminology, as well as the various evolving technologies that Webmasters must know to create websites that people will visit regularly.  Most of the topics covered apply to all website creation regardless of whether users use FrontPage or not.

Course Objectives

Ø      Learn what tools are needed to create and maintain a website

Ø      Understand various Internet terms that webmasters will encounter such as HTML

Ø      Learn basic Graphic Design concepts, including topics regarding graphic formats, eye movement, color usage, and font usage

Ø      Understand how MS FrontPage works and how to use its advanced tools to create a dynamic website.

Ø      Learn how to use tables, frames, graphics, and hyperlinks

Ø      To find resources on the Internet to aid in the creation and maintenance of the website

Ø      Learn some of the advanced website technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Dynamic HTML, and Animated GIFs

Recommended Prerequisites

            2 days

Windows ‘95/’98 course or good working knowledge in the Windows ‘95 environment.  Any past experience with graphics programs would be very beneficial.
