Course Schedule

Course Description

This three day course is open to everyone, but is specifically designed for people in the teaching profession.  We focus on the three most often used applications that an instructor might use.  These applications are MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Internet Explorer.  Knowledge of these products will allow you to improve your technical skills to make your instruction more effective.

Whether you are creating lesson plans, creating interactive presentations, or finding information on the Internet, knowledge is power.

Course Objectives

Ø      To learn some of the advanced features that are available in Microsoft Word 2000.  These include templates, forms, sections, graphics, and mail merge.

Ø      To become comfortable with Microsoft PowerPoint.  PowerPoint may be used to increase the retention of students by stimulating visual learners as well as auditory learners.  You will learn how to create interactive applications that may be used for quizzes.  This will test level of retention experienced by the students.

Ø      To demystify the Internet.  Learn how to effectively navigate the World Wide Web.  You will also learn some of the terminology that is commonly used on the Internet.  This will help to alleviate any fears that you may have of the Internet.

Ø      You will learn how to download a file and decompress it if necessary.  You will learn how to find material that will make your instruction more effective.

           3 days

A basic knowledge of the Windows operating system.  A working knowledge of MS Word is also recommended.
