Course Description

This course is designed to take a  novice user through the process of creating and formatting documents so that they have a professional appearance.  Learn how to work with basic windows word processing techniques that will enhance your skills in many other windows applications.  Text selection, moving text, and formatting text are the essentials that we will cover.  Additional features such as borders and tables will be included to make you productive in the most popular word processor in the market place.

Course Objectives

Ø      Learn some basic file management like Saving, Closing, and Opening Word documents.

Ø      Discover the difference between “formatting as you go” or “formatting after you’ve typed”.

Ø      Learn the basics of this program so that the student can productively use any windows based Word processor.

Ø      Discover the differences available by using the toolbar buttons vs. finding the same command from the menu bar.

Ø      To develop a strong working knowledge of formatting techniques.  These are essential skills that will benefit a user in other word processors, e-mail editors, and spreadsheet programs.

The only prerequisite is some experience or skills with operating the mouse through Windows ‘95/’98. You don’t have to be a good typist, although that will never harm you!
