Course Description

This course is designed to inform the student about the basic usage of a personal computer. The course begins with an overview of personal computer basics. These basics include a description of hardware, various types of software, and usage. The course then moves into an introduction of the Microsoft Windows 98 operating system. The student will learn the basics needed to navigate and use the operating system for everyday use. An introduction to Microsoft Word is next. Microsoft Word the most popular word processor in use today. In this introduction you will learn the skills necessary to do basic word processing. Microsoft Excel is the next area to be explored in the course. Excel is an extremely powerful spreadsheet program that can be used for accounting or "what-if" analysis. The last area explored is the Internet. The Internet has become an essential tool in the business world today. In this section, the students will learn some of the terminology that is currently being used on the internet today. Emphasis is placed on efficient navigation of the internet, as well as the utilization of search engines. Once the student has finished this course, they will have enough of an understanding of the personal computer and its components, to effectively make use of its power.

Duration

The duration of the course is 2 days. The days begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:30 pm.
